Cwm Elan
Lair of a lamhigyn y dŵr
Quest
We suggest visiting the stunning reservoirs in Cwm Elan, but obey all instructions from staff and do not attempt to see the Llamhigyn y Dŵr. NB Llamhigyn y Dŵr may not materialise completely, so do not ignore signs or feelings or "corner of the eye" phenomena.

Information
In 1988 a Llamhigyn emerged from the Claerwen Dam. It was hunted by local rangers and a team including a bard but managed to lay waste to a farm at Bodalog before it was dissipated by a series of swyns. This is the last documented emergence of a Llamhigyn in the area, but concern has grown that a creature has returned and is lurking in Caban Coch reservoir.
The Caban Coch reservoir is named after the "red house". The hut in question was an office used by the victims of the last llamhigyn y dwr. Micheal Booth, manager of the site explains it as "Put it this way. It was red when the rescuers got there, and I don't mean red on the outside."
The llamhigyn y dŵr appear at times of pain or disaster, and it is believed that the creation of the dam was in part an attempt to contain an earlier infestation by creating a body of clear water.
